What does a wedding celebrant do?
A wedding celebrant designs and leads a ceremony that is truly personal to you. I take the time to learn your story, understand what matters most, and craft a ceremony that reflects your personalities, values and relationship. Every element is written uniquely for you — nothing is scripted or standard.
How is a celebrant-led wedding different from a registrar or church ceremony?
A celebrant-led ceremony gives you complete freedom. You’re not limited by set words, time slots or legal requirements. Instead, your ceremony can be held anywhere — indoors, outdoors, or somewhere meaningful to you. You can weave in readings, rituals, humour and heartfelt moments – whatever feels right for you.
Can a celebrant legally marry us in Oxfordshire?
A celebrant ceremony itself isn’t legally binding. Most couples choose to complete the legal paperwork at their local registry office (a simple appointment), and then enjoy their personalised celebrant ceremony on the day. This gives you both the legal formalities and the beautiful, bespoke celebration you deserve.
Where can I have a celebrant-led wedding in Oxfordshire?
Anywhere that feels special to you — that’s the beauty of celebrant ceremonies. Whether it’s a Cotswold barn, a woodland hideaway, a garden at home, or one of Oxfordshire’s many historic venues, you have complete choice. I’m always happy to recommend places that suit your style.

Do we still need to register our marriage if we use a celebrant?
Yes — you’ll need a simple legal registration at your local register office. Many couples describe it as “signing the paperwork”, taking around 10–15 minutes. Your celebrant ceremony then becomes your true wedding celebration, shared with loved ones in the way you genuinely want.
What are the benefits of having a celebrant wedding ceremony?
Put simply, the benefits are freedom, creativity and warmth. Your ceremony will be crafted from your story, your words and your wishes — full of meaning, personality and connection. It feels natural, relaxed and heartfelt, creating memories that stay with you long after the day.
Can we include religious or cultural elements?
Absolutely. Your ceremony can blend traditions, beliefs, spiritual elements or symbolic moments that matter to you. Whether subtle or significant, it’s completely your choice.
Can you perform same-sex weddings?
Yes — all love is celebrated. I’m honoured to create meaningful ceremonies for couples of every identity.

Can we write our own vows?
Of course. Many couples find vow-writing deeply meaningful, and I can guide you through the process if you wish. You can write your own, choose traditional-style wording, or create a blend of both.
How long does a typical ceremony last?
Most ceremonies last around 30 minutes, though it’s entirely flexible. The length depends on readings, symbolic acts and the content you prefer.
Can we include readings, music or symbolic acts?
Yes — and I’m always happy to help you choose or create these elements. Popular symbolic acts include handfasting, unity candles, tree planting and sand ceremonies, each offering a lovely moment of togetherness.

How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book at the same time that they book their venue (9–18 months ahead), especially for popular Oxfordshire locations and summer dates. However, do reach out — if I’m available, I’ll happily support ceremonies with shorter notice too.
Do you travel outside Oxfordshire?
Yes. While I’m based in Oxfordshire, I also travel to the Cotswolds, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire.
How much does a wedding celebrant cost in Oxfordshire?
My fees reflect the time, care and creativity that go into crafting your ceremony. Each script is written individually after getting to know you both, and includes meetings, planning, support and the ceremony itself. You can find current pricing here.
What’s included in your celebrant service?
You’ll receive:
- A warm, relaxed initial consultation
- Two personalised questionnaires to help shape your ceremony
- A fully bespoke ceremony script
- Unlimited revisions until it feels perfect
- Support with readings, vows and symbolic acts
- Coordination on the day and delivery of your ceremony
How do we book you?
Simply send me an enquiry with your date and venue. If I’m available, we’ll arrange a friendly chat to see if we’re the right fit — no pressure, just a relaxed conversation about your ideas.
What happens after we book?
We begin with two questionnaires. One covering logistics and plans for your ceremony, and one focusing on the story of your relationship. Then we have a warm, informal meeting where I learn all about your journey together. From there, I craft your ceremony script, check in with you throughout the process, and work closely with you to shape every detail until it feels just right.
Do you work with wedding venues in Oxford, Banbury, Bicester, or the Cotswolds?
Yes — I regularly lead ceremonies across Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas, from countryside barns to elegant manor houses and rustic Cotswold locations.
Can you officiate outdoor or garden weddings?
Absolutely. Outdoor ceremonies are some of the most magical — whether under a grand oak tree, in a meadow, or in your own garden. Celebrant ceremonies are wonderfully flexible, letting nature play its part.

Do you perform ceremonies at historic venues or barns?
Yes. Oxfordshire is full of beautiful barns, heritage buildings and characterful spaces that create a stunning backdrop. I’m always happy to advise on how to shape your ceremony within each setting.
What are some of your favourite local venues?
Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas have so many charming venues. I’m a recommended supplier at some of the very best — from magical woodland escapes like Evenley Wood Garden to fairytale lakeside settings like Hadsham Farm; historic masterpieces like the Bodleian Library to chic rustic barns like Tythe. I’d be delighted to share suggestions based on your style, guest numbers and vision.
Why did you become a wedding celebrant?
Because I believe every couple deserves a ceremony that feels deeply personal and beautifully told. I’m passionate about creating moments that reflect who you are — ceremonies that are gentle, joyful, meaningful and full of love.
What makes your ceremonies unique?
I focus on authenticity, emotion and story. No templates, no scripts reused — just a ceremony shaped around your journey, written with care and delivered with warmth.
Can you help us create a themed or non-traditional ceremony?
Absolutely. Whether whimsical, elegant, nature-inspired or completely unique, I love helping couples bring their ideas to life.
Do you meet couples before the wedding?
Yes — meeting you is essential. It helps build trust, connection and a sense of ease, ensuring your ceremony feels natural and beautifully personal when the day arrives.
